Northwest Nationals Camps

Thanksgiving Catcher’s Camp

Spend part of Thanksgiving week getting better behind the plate. Logan Paustian leads this camp. He is the Northwest Nationals General Manager and Hitting and Catching Coordinator, and he caught at the Division I level for the University of Oregon and Arizona State University. Logan brings that experience to every catcher in the room.

Catchers are the leaders on the field, and this camp is built to help them own that role. Each session works through the skills that set great catchers apart:

  • Stance and setup: getting comfortable, balanced and ready in both primary and secondary stances.

  • Receiving and framing: soft, quiet hands that present strikes to the umpire.

  • Blocking: getting down fast, keeping the ball in front and recovering quickly.

  • Footwork and throwing: clean transfers and accurate throws to the bases.

  • Game management: communicating with pitchers, controlling the running game and leading the defense.

Logan teaches each skill with clear cues and drills catchers can take straight into their own practice and games. Every athlete leaves with a plan to keep improving through the winter and into the spring season.
