Hitting League

Advanced Hitting League

The Northwest Nationals Hitting League is a competitive, development-focused program designed to give athletes consistent, game-like hitting opportunities throughout the offseason. Hosted at the Northwest Nationals Baseball & Softball Training Facility, the Hitting League combines technology, competition, accountability, and quality repetitions in an environment built around offensive development.

The Hitting League will feature six teams of four and will be held on Saturday afternoons and evenings, creating a fast-paced, competitive format where every at-bat matters and every athlete contributes to their team's success.

Hitting League Format

  • 6 teams - 4 athletes per team

  • 7-week season

    • 5 weeks of pool play

    • 2 weeks of playoffs

During the first five weeks, teams will compete in pool play, with results determining seeding for the postseason. The final two weeks will feature a playoff format, culminating in the Northwest Nationals Hitting League Championship.

The Northwest Nationals Hitting League Champions will be crowned on October 24, with each athlete on the championship team receiving a DeMarini bat.

The Northwest Nationals Hitting League is more than an opportunity to get additional swings. It is designed to teach athletes how to hit, how to compete, how to make adjustments, and how to develop an offensive approach that translates to game performance.

Hitting League Information

HitTrax Game Play

All league games will be played using HitTrax, creating an interactive and competitive game environment while providing objective feedback on each athlete's performance. HitTrax allows hitters to compete in simulated games while tracking results and important offensive metrics throughout the league.

The game format gives athletes an opportunity to experience the pressure and decision-making of competitive at-bats rather than simply taking traditional batting-practice swings.

Hack Attack Pitching Machines

To create a consistent and challenging competitive environment, the Hitting League will utilize two Hack Attack pitching machines during game play and development.

The machines allow the Northwest Nationals staff to control velocity, pitch location, and pitch type, creating age-appropriate challenges while also exposing athletes to different pitches and locations. Using two machines will allow the league to maintain a fast pace while maximizing the number of competitive repetitions each athlete receives.

The combination of HitTrax and Hack Attack technology allows us to create a controlled environment where athletes can compete while continuing to develop their offensive skills.

Development Through Competition

The goal of the Hitting League is to bridge the gap between training and game performance. Athletes will be challenged to take what they are developing in lessons, practices, and individual training and apply it in competitive at-bats.

The league will emphasize:

  • Quality at-bats and competitive intent

  • Situational hitting

  • Approach and adjustability

  • Competing with two strikes

  • Recognizing and handling different pitch types and locations

  • Team-oriented offensive execution
